Kingdom of Nájera-Pamplona
The Kingdom of Nájera-Pamplona was a medieval state located in the northern part of the Iberian Peninsula, primarily in what is now northern Spain. It emerged in the 10th century and was known for its strategic position along the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. The kingdom played a significant role in the Reconquista, the effort to reclaim territory from Muslim rule.
The kingdom was formed through the union of the earlier Kingdom of Pamplona and the Kingdom of Nájera. It was ruled by a series of monarchs, including notable figures like Sancho III of Navarre, who expanded its influence. The kingdom eventually became part of the larger Kingdom of Navarre in the 11th century.
