King of Malaysia
The King of Malaysia, known as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, is the constitutional monarch of the country. This position is unique because it rotates among the nine Malay state rulers every five years. The King serves as a symbol of unity and is responsible for various ceremonial duties, including the opening of Parliament and the appointment of the Prime Minister.
The role of the King is largely ceremonial, with real political power resting with the elected government. However, the King does have some important responsibilities, such as granting pardons and appointing judges. The current King, as of 2023, is Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
