King Louis Philippe I of France
King Louis Philippe I of France, known as the "Citizen King," ruled from 1830 to 1848. He came to power after the July Revolution, which overthrew the Bourbon monarchy. Louis Philippe was a member of the House of Orléans and aimed to represent the interests of the bourgeoisie, or middle class, during his reign.
His government faced challenges, including economic difficulties and social unrest. The discontent led to the February Revolution in 1848, which ultimately forced him to abdicate the throne. Following his abdication, Louis Philippe went into exile in England, marking the end of the July Monarchy.
