King Kaumualiʻi
King Kaumualiʻi was the last king of the island of Kauaʻi in the Hawaiian Islands. He ruled from 1810 until his death in 1824 and was known for his efforts to maintain the independence of his kingdom during a time when other Hawaiian islands were being unified under the rule of King Kamehameha I. Kaumualiʻi was a skilled diplomat and sought to establish peaceful relations with foreign powers.
During his reign, Kaumualiʻi faced challenges from both internal and external forces. He eventually allied with the British, seeking their support against the unification efforts of Kamehameha. After his death, Kauaʻi became part of the unified Kingdom of Hawaiʻi, marking the end of Kaumualiʻi's independent rule.
