King John II of France
King John II of France, also known as John the Good, ruled from 1350 to 1364. He was the son of Philip VI and became king during the Hundred Years' War between France and England. His reign was marked by military challenges and internal strife, particularly the devastating defeat at the Battle of Poitiers in 1356.
After his capture at Poitiers, John was held for ransom in England. He eventually returned to France in 1360, but his reign continued to be troubled by financial issues and the ongoing conflict with England. John died in 1364, leaving a complex legacy.
