King Jeongjo
King Jeongjo was the 22nd ruler of the Joseon Dynasty in Korea, reigning from 1776 to 1800. He is known for his efforts to modernize the kingdom and strengthen the central government. Jeongjo promoted education, supported the arts, and encouraged scientific advancements, which contributed to the cultural development of Korea during his reign.
One of his notable achievements was the establishment of the Kyujanggak, a royal library and research institute. Jeongjo also sought to improve the lives of common people by implementing land reforms and reducing taxes. His reign is often regarded as a period of enlightenment in Korean history.
