King Erik XI
King Erik XI, also known as Erik of Pomerania, was a monarch who ruled over Sweden, Denmark, and Norway during the late 14th and early 15th centuries. He was born in 1382 and became king in 1396, uniting the three kingdoms under the Kalmar Union. His reign was marked by efforts to strengthen the union, but he faced challenges from local nobility and external threats.
Erik XI's rule ended in 1439 when he was deposed due to his unpopular policies and inability to maintain control. After his removal, he spent his later years in Pomerania, where he died in 1459. His legacy is often viewed through the lens of the complexities of the Kalmar Union.
