King Edwin of Northumbria
King Edwin of Northumbria was a prominent ruler in early medieval England, reigning from 616 to 633 AD. He was the first king to unite the kingdoms of Northumbria, which included both Deira and Bernicia. Edwin's reign is noted for its relative peace and prosperity, as well as his efforts to spread Christianity throughout his kingdom.
Edwin was influenced by the missionary work of Paulinus, who played a significant role in converting him to Christianity. His reign ended when he was defeated and killed at the Battle of Hatfield Chase in 633 AD, marking a significant turning point in the history of Northumbria.
