Khedivate
The Khedivate was a semi-autonomous state in Egypt and Sudan from 1867 to 1914, established under the rule of Khedive Ismail Pasha. It marked a period of modernization and economic reform, as Ismail sought to transform Egypt into a more developed nation, investing in infrastructure, education, and the arts.
The Khedivate was ultimately influenced by foreign powers, particularly Britain and France, leading to increased control over Egyptian affairs. In 1914, during World War I, the Khedivate was officially dissolved, and Egypt was declared a British protectorate, ending its semi-autonomous status.
