Kenyan Independence
Kenyan independence refers to the process through which Kenya gained freedom from British colonial rule. This movement gained momentum after World War II, as many Kenyans sought self-governance and an end to colonial exploitation. The struggle involved various political groups, including the Mau Mau, who fought for land and rights.
On December 12, 1963, Kenya officially became an independent nation, with Jomo Kenyatta as its first Prime Minister. The new government aimed to unite the diverse ethnic groups and promote development. Independence Day is now celebrated annually, marking a significant milestone in Kenya's history.
