Kentucky History
Kentucky's history began with Native American tribes, such as the Cherokee and Shawnee, who inhabited the region for thousands of years. European exploration started in the late 17th century, with Daniel Boone famously leading settlers through the Cumberland Gap in the 18th century. Kentucky became the 15th state in 1792, known for its rich natural resources and agricultural land.
The state played a significant role in the Civil War, with divided loyalties among its residents. Post-war, Kentucky became known for its bourbon production and bluegrass music. Today, it celebrates its diverse heritage through various cultural events and historical sites.
