Keiko
Keiko was a famous orca whale who gained worldwide attention in the 1990s. Born in 1976, he was captured off the coast of Iceland and later became a star in the movie Free Willy. His portrayal in the film helped raise awareness about the plight of captive whales and the importance of marine conservation.
After his film success, Keiko was moved to a rehabilitation facility in Oregon and eventually released into the wild in 2002. Despite efforts to adapt him to life in the ocean, he struggled to fully integrate and ultimately spent his final years in Norway, where he passed away in 2003.
