Katutura
Katutura is a vibrant township located in Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia. Established during the apartheid era, it was created to segregate the black population from the white residents of the city. Today, Katutura is known for its rich culture, community spirit, and diverse population.
The name "Katutura" means "a place where we do not want to live" in the Otjiherero language, reflecting its historical context. Despite its challenging past, the area has transformed into a hub of creativity and resilience, featuring markets, local businesses, and various cultural events that celebrate Namibian heritage.
