Katse Dam
The Katse Dam is a large concrete arch dam located in the mountainous region of Lesotho, Africa. Completed in 1996, it is part of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project, which aims to supply water to South Africa while generating hydroelectric power. The dam creates the Katse Reservoir, which is one of the largest in the country.
Standing at 185 meters high, the Katse Dam is a significant engineering achievement. It has a storage capacity of approximately 2.2 billion cubic meters of water. The dam not only supports water supply but also plays a crucial role in flood control and irrigation for the surrounding areas.
