Kata Tjuta, also known as the Olgas, is a group of large, domed rock formations located in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is part of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and is approximately 25 kilometers west of Uluru. The name "Kata Tjuta" means "many heads" in the local Pitjantjatjara language, reflecting its unique shape and structure.
The formations are composed of conglomerate rock and rise over 500 meters above the surrounding plains. Kata Tjuta is significant to the local Anangu people, who have cultural and spiritual connections to the site. Visitors can explore the area through various walking trails, including the popular Valley of the Winds walk.
