Kasturi (Musk)
Kasturi, commonly known as musk, is a fragrant substance derived from the glandular secretions of the male musk deer. It has been used for centuries in perfumes and traditional medicine due to its strong, earthy scent. The extraction of natural musk is now restricted because of the endangered status of musk deer, leading to the development of synthetic alternatives.
In addition to its use in perfumery, kasturi has cultural significance in various traditions. It is often associated with spirituality and is used in religious rituals and ceremonies. The scent of musk is believed to have calming properties, making it popular in aromatherapy practices.
