Karimojong
The Karimojong are a Nilotic ethnic group primarily found in northeastern Uganda, particularly in the Karamoja region. They are known for their pastoral lifestyle, relying on cattle herding as a central part of their culture and economy. The Karimojong speak the Ngakarimojong language, which is part of the larger Kalenjin language family.
Traditionally, the Karimojong are semi-nomadic, moving with their herds to find grazing land and water. Their social structure is organized around clans, and they have rich cultural practices, including music, dance, and rituals that celebrate their connection to cattle. The community faces challenges such as drought and conflict over resources.
