Karabakh
Karabakh is a region located in the South Caucasus, primarily known for its historical and cultural significance. It is divided into two main parts: Nagorno-Karabakh, which is predominantly populated by ethnic Armenians, and the surrounding areas that are mainly inhabited by Azerbaijanis. The region has been the center of a long-standing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The conflict over Karabakh escalated in the late 20th century, leading to a war in the early 1990s. A ceasefire was established in 1994, but tensions have persisted, resulting in periodic clashes. The region's status remains unresolved, making it a focal point of geopolitical interest in the area.
