Kapre
The Kapre is a creature from Philippine folklore, often described as a large, tree-dwelling giant. It is typically depicted as having dark skin, a beard, and a penchant for smoking a large cigar. Kapres are said to inhabit tall trees, particularly mangrove and balete trees, and are known for their playful yet mischievous nature.
In local legends, Kapres are believed to be guardians of the forest, sometimes helping lost travelers but also scaring them away if they intrude on their territory. They are often associated with the night and are said to be invisible to most humans, only revealing themselves to those who are sensitive to the supernatural.
