Kankuamo Language
The Kankuamo language is a member of the Chibchan language family, primarily spoken by the Kankuamo people in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta region of Colombia. It is one of the indigenous languages that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the area, alongside other languages like Arhuaco and Wiwas.
Kankuamo is considered endangered, with efforts underway to revitalize and preserve it. The language plays a crucial role in maintaining the identity and traditions of the Kankuamo community, as it is used in daily communication, storytelling, and cultural practices.
