Kang Youwei
Kang Youwei was a prominent Chinese scholar, reformer, and political activist during the late Qing Dynasty. Born in 1858, he is best known for advocating for modernization and reform in China, particularly through his ideas on constitutional monarchy and education. Kang was influenced by Western political thought and sought to implement changes that would strengthen China against foreign powers.
In 1898, Kang Youwei played a key role in the Hundred Days' Reform, a short-lived movement aimed at transforming China's political and educational systems. Although the reform efforts were ultimately suppressed, his ideas continued to influence later generations of reformers and revolutionaries, including Sun Yat-sen and the May Fourth Movement. Kang Youwei passed away in 1927, leaving a lasting legacy in Chinese history.
