Kandukuri Veeresalingam
Kandukuri Veeresalingam (1848-1919) was a prominent social reformer and writer from Andhra Pradesh, India. He is known for his efforts to promote education, women's rights, and social justice during the 19th century. Veeresalingam was a pioneer in the Telugu literary movement and contributed significantly to modern Telugu literature.
He founded the first women's organization in India and advocated for widow remarriage and the upliftment of the lower castes. His notable works include the play "Raja Gopala Rao," which addressed social issues, and he played a crucial role in the establishment of the Andhra Mahila Sabha to empower women.
