Kalaupapa
Kalaupapa is a small peninsula located on the island of Molokai in Hawaii. It is known for its historical significance as a settlement for individuals affected by leprosy, or Hansen's disease, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The area was isolated to prevent the spread of the disease, and those sent there lived in a community away from the rest of society.
Today, Kalaupapa is a national historical park that honors the lives of the people who lived there. It features preserved buildings and landscapes, offering visitors a glimpse into the past. The park also highlights the work of Father Damien, a priest who dedicated his life to caring for the residents.
