Kailash Kora
The Kailash Kora is a sacred pilgrimage route that encircles Mount Kailash, a revered mountain in the Tibetan Plateau. This 52-kilometer trek is significant in several religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon, as it is believed to be the abode of the god Shiva. Pilgrims undertake this journey to seek spiritual merit and purification.
The trek typically takes three days to complete and involves challenging terrain, including high-altitude passes. Many pilgrims perform a ritual known as kora, which involves walking clockwise around the mountain. The route offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape and is an important cultural and spiritual experience for those who participate.
