Kaffa (Coffee)
Kaffa, a region in southwestern Ethiopia, is widely recognized as the birthplace of coffee. The coffee plant, known as Coffea arabica, thrives in the area's rich soil and favorable climate. Local legends suggest that a goat herder named Kaldi discovered coffee when he noticed his goats becoming energetic after eating the berries from the coffee tree.
The coffee beans from Kaffa are often characterized by their unique flavor profiles, which can include fruity and floral notes. Today, Kaffa coffee is celebrated not only for its taste but also for its cultural significance, as coffee ceremonies are an important tradition in Ethiopian society.
