Kaalidasa
Kaalidasa was an ancient Indian poet and playwright, widely regarded as one of the greatest writers in Sanskrit literature. He is believed to have lived during the 4th to 5th century CE, although exact dates are uncertain. His works often explore themes of love, nature, and mythology, showcasing his mastery of language and poetic form.
Among his most famous works are the epic poem Shakuntala and the lyrical poem Meghaduta. Shakuntala tells the story of a beautiful maiden and her love for King Dushyanta, while Meghaduta features a cloud as a messenger carrying a lover's message. Kaalidasa's influence continues to be felt in Indian literature and arts today.
