KPD
The KPD, or Communist Party of Germany, was a political party founded in 1918. It emerged from the Spartacist League, which sought to establish a socialist state in Germany following World War I. The KPD aimed to represent the interests of the working class and was known for its radical leftist ideology.
Throughout the 1920s and early 1930s, the KPD gained significant support, particularly during times of economic hardship. However, it faced intense opposition from both the Weimar Republic and the rising Nazi Party. The KPD was eventually banned in 1933 after the Nazis came to power, leading to the persecution of its members.
