K-type star
A K-type star is a type of star that falls within the spectral classification system. These stars are cooler than the more common G-type stars like our Sun, with surface temperatures ranging from about 3,900 to 5,200 Kelvin. K-type stars emit a warm orange or yellow light and are often found in the main sequence phase of their life cycle.
K-type stars are known for their longevity, often burning for billions of years before evolving into red giants. They are also considered good candidates for hosting exoplanets in their habitable zones, making them of interest in the search for extraterrestrial life.
