K-type Stars
K-type stars are a category of stars that are cooler and less luminous than the more common G-type stars, like our Sun. They have surface temperatures ranging from about 3,900 to 5,200 Kelvin. K-type stars appear orange in color and are often found in the main sequence phase of their life cycle.
These stars are known for their long lifespans, often lasting several billion years. They are also considered good candidates for hosting exoplanets in their habitable zones, where conditions might allow for liquid water. This makes K-type stars interesting targets for the search for extraterrestrial life.
