K-type Main-sequence Star
A K-type main-sequence star is a type of star that falls within the spectral class K. These stars are cooler than G-type stars like our Sun, with surface temperatures ranging from about 3,900 to 5,200 Kelvin. They emit a warm, orange light and are often found in various stages of stellar evolution, typically being stable and long-lived.
K-type stars are known for their longevity, often burning for tens of billions of years. They are less massive than F-type stars but more massive than M-type stars. Due to their stability, K-type stars can host planetary systems, making them interesting targets in the search for extraterrestrial life.
