Jumo 004
The Jumo 004 is a turbojet engine developed in Germany during World War II. It was the first operational turbojet engine used in a military aircraft, powering the Messerschmitt Me 262, the world's first jet fighter. The engine featured a simple design with a single-stage centrifugal compressor and a single-stage turbine, allowing for efficient performance.
The Jumo 004 produced around 1,800 pounds of thrust, enabling the Me 262 to reach speeds of over 500 miles per hour. Its introduction marked a significant advancement in aviation technology, influencing future jet engine designs and the development of modern military aircraft.
