Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo was a Spanish explorer and conquistador active in the 16th century. He is best known for his expeditions in the southeastern region of what is now the United States, particularly in areas that are part of North Carolina and South Carolina. Pardo aimed to establish Spanish settlements and expand Spanish influence in the New World.
During his journeys, Pardo led several expeditions from St. Augustine, Florida, into the interior, where he encountered various Native American tribes. His efforts contributed to the early European exploration of the region, although he faced challenges from local populations and the harsh environment.
