Juan Díaz de Solís
Juan Díaz de Solís was a Spanish explorer born around 1470. He is best known for his expeditions to South America, particularly for being one of the first Europeans to navigate the Rio de la Plata in 1516. His journey aimed to find a passage to the Pacific Ocean and establish trade routes.
In 1516, Díaz de Solís and his crew encountered indigenous peoples in the region. Unfortunately, during a conflict with the Charrúa people, he was killed in 1516. His explorations contributed to the European understanding of the geography and cultures of the Rio de la Plata area.
