Josiah of Judah
Josiah of Judah was a king of the ancient Kingdom of Judah who reigned from approximately 640 to 609 BCE. He became king at a young age, around eight years old, and is known for his significant religious reforms. Josiah sought to restore the worship of Yahweh, the God of Israel, and removed pagan practices from the kingdom.
During his reign, Josiah discovered a book of the Law in the temple, which many believe to be part of the Deuteronomy text. This discovery led him to initiate a covenant renewal with the people, emphasizing the importance of following the laws and commandments of Yahweh. His reign is often seen as a high point in Judah's history.
