Joseph-Michel Montgolfier
Joseph-Michel Montgolfier was a French paper manufacturer born on August 26, 1740. He is best known for inventing the hot air balloon alongside his brother, Jacques-Étienne Montgolfier. Their interest in flight began when they observed how heated air could lift a paper bag.
In 1782, the Montgolfier brothers successfully launched their first balloon, which was made of paper and cloth. This marked a significant milestone in aviation history, leading to the development of lighter-than-air flight. Their work laid the foundation for future advancements in aeronautics and inspired many inventors and explorers.
