Joseph of Arimathea
Joseph of Arimathea was a wealthy member of the Jewish council who is known for his role in the burial of Jesus. According to the Gospels, he requested permission from Pontius Pilate to take down Jesus' body from the cross after the crucifixion.
He provided his own tomb for Jesus' burial, which was located in a garden near the crucifixion site. This act of kindness fulfilled a prophecy and demonstrated his respect for Jesus. Joseph is also associated with the legend of the Holy Grail in later Christian traditions.
