Joseph Kershaw (General)
Joseph Kershaw was a Confederate general during the American Civil War. He was born on December 5, 1822, in South Carolina and became known for his leadership in various battles, particularly in the Battle of Gettysburg and the Battle of the Wilderness. Kershaw commanded the 2nd South Carolina Brigade and was recognized for his tactical skills and bravery.
After the war, Kershaw returned to South Carolina, where he engaged in politics and served as a state legislator. He was also involved in the railroad industry. Kershaw passed away on December 24, 1894, leaving a legacy as a prominent military figure in the Confederacy.
