Joseph Asscher
Joseph Asscher was a prominent Dutch diamond cutter and businessman, born in 1881. He is best known for his role in the creation of the famous Asscher Cut, a square-shaped diamond cut that enhances the stone's brilliance and clarity. Asscher's expertise in diamond cutting helped establish the Asscher Diamond Company, which became renowned for its high-quality diamonds.
In addition to his work in the diamond industry, Asscher was also involved in the Jewish community in Amsterdam. During World War II, he and his family faced persecution due to their Jewish heritage. Despite the challenges, his legacy in the diamond industry continues to influence modern diamond cutting techniques.
