Jonestown
Jonestown was a settlement established in the 1970s by the People's Temple, a religious group led by Jim Jones. Located in Guyana, it was intended as a utopian community where members could live out their beliefs in socialism and communal living.
Tragically, Jonestown became infamous for the mass suicide that occurred on November 18, 1978. Over 900 members died after consuming a cyanide-laced drink, an event that shocked the world and highlighted the dangers of cults and extreme ideologies. The incident remains a significant part of discussions about religious movements and psychological manipulation.
