John Obadiah Westwood
John Obadiah Westwood (1805-1893) was a notable English entomologist and botanist. He is best known for his work on insects, particularly his studies of the Coleoptera (beetles). Westwood contributed significantly to the classification and understanding of various insect species, and his research helped lay the groundwork for future entomological studies.
In addition to his entomological work, Westwood was also involved in the field of botany. He served as a professor at Oxford University and published several important texts, including "Introduction to the Modern Classification of Insects." His contributions to science have had a lasting impact on both entomology and botany.
