John Gorton
John Gorton was an Australian politician who served as the 19th Prime Minister of Australia from 1968 to 1971. He was a member of the Liberal Party and represented the Australian Senate for the state of Victoria. Gorton was known for his leadership style and was the first Prime Minister to be born in Australia.
Before becoming Prime Minister, Gorton held various ministerial positions, including Minister for Defence. His government focused on issues such as education and foreign policy, particularly in relation to the Vietnam War. Gorton resigned in 1971 and later retired from politics in 1975.
