John Dowie
John Dowie was a Scottish evangelist and faith healer, born in 1847. He is best known for founding the Christian Science movement and for his role in the early Pentecostal revival in the United States. Dowie emphasized divine healing and the power of faith, attracting many followers during his ministry.
In 1901, he established the city of Zion, Illinois, as a religious community based on his teachings. Dowie's influence extended beyond healing, as he also promoted a strict moral code and a lifestyle of abstinence from alcohol and tobacco. He passed away in 1907, leaving a lasting impact on religious movements.
