Alexander Dowie
Alexander Dowie was a Scottish preacher and faith healer born in 1847. He is best known for founding the Zion City in Illinois, which he established in 1901 as a community based on his religious beliefs. Dowie promoted the idea of divine healing and emphasized the importance of faith in overcoming illness.
Dowie's teachings attracted many followers, leading to the growth of his movement, known as Zionism (not to be confused with Jewish Zionism). However, his leadership style was controversial, and he faced criticism and opposition from both religious and secular groups. He passed away in 1907, leaving a complex legacy.
