John Conway
John Conway was a British mathematician known for his work in various fields, including group theory, number theory, and combinatorial game theory. He is perhaps best recognized for creating the Game of Life, a cellular automaton that simulates how simple rules can lead to complex behaviors in a grid of cells.
Conway was also involved in the development of the surreal numbers, a unique number system that extends the concept of real numbers. Throughout his career, he published numerous papers and books, contributing significantly to mathematical education and inspiring many with his innovative ideas and playful approach to mathematics.
