John Climacus
John Climacus was a 7th-century Christian monk and ascetic, best known for his work titled "The Ladder of Divine Ascent." This influential text outlines a spiritual journey toward achieving a closer relationship with God through 30 steps, each representing a virtue or stage of spiritual growth.
Born in Mount Sinai, John spent much of his life in a monastery, where he practiced and taught the principles of monastic life. His teachings emphasize the importance of humility, prayer, and self-discipline, making him a significant figure in Eastern Orthodox spirituality and monasticism.
