John Campbell, 4th Duke of Argyll
John Campbell, 4th Duke of Argyll (1723-1806), was a Scottish nobleman and politician. He was a member of the Campbell family and held the title of Duke of Argyll from 1770 until his death. He served as a prominent figure in the British Parliament and was known for his support of the Whig Party.
The Duke was also involved in various military and diplomatic efforts during his lifetime. He played a significant role in the Jacobite risings and was a supporter of the Act of Union in 1707, which united England and Scotland. His contributions to Scottish society and politics were notable during the 18th century.
