John Bell Hood
John Bell Hood was a Confederate general during the American Civil War, known for his aggressive tactics and leadership. Born on June 1, 1831, in Kentucky, he graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1853. Hood quickly rose through the ranks, serving under notable generals like Robert E. Lee and Joseph E. Johnston.
Hood is best remembered for his command of the Army of Tennessee during the latter part of the war. His leadership was marked by significant battles, including the Battle of Atlanta and the Battle of Franklin. Despite his bold strategies, Hood's campaigns often resulted in heavy losses for his troops. He surrendered in 1865 and later became a businessman.
