John A. Macdonald
John A. Macdonald was the first Prime Minister of Canada, serving from 1867 to 1873 and again from 1878 to 1891. He played a crucial role in the confederation of Canada, helping to unite the provinces into a single nation. His leadership was instrumental in the creation of the Dominion of Canada.
Macdonald was known for his policies on Indigenous peoples and the expansion of the Canadian Pacific Railway. While he is celebrated for his contributions to nation-building, his legacy is also marked by controversial decisions that affected Indigenous communities and their rights.
