Johann Nepomuk Hummel
Johann Nepomuk Hummel was an Austrian composer and pianist born on November 14, 1778, in Pressburg, now Bratislava, Slovakia. He was a prominent figure in the early Romantic period and is known for his contributions to piano music, chamber music, and orchestral works. Hummel studied under Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and later became a close associate of Joseph Haydn.
Hummel's music is characterized by its lyrical melodies and technical demands on performers. He served as the court composer in Weimar and was influential in the development of piano techniques. Hummel passed away on October 17, 1837, leaving behind a legacy of over 50 compositions.
