Joana the Mad
Joana the Mad, or Juana la Loca, was a Spanish queen born in 1479. She was the daughter of Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon. Joana became queen of Castile in 1504 after her mother's death. Her reign was marked by political turmoil and personal tragedy, particularly her tumultuous relationship with her husband, Philip the Handsome.
Joana was known for her mental health struggles, which led to her being declared mad by her family. After Philip's death in 1506, she was confined to a palace in Tordesillas for most of her life. Despite her challenges, she remained a significant figure in Spanish history.
